I'm Aaren, and this is my page on my Global Competency application. It demonstrates how I have achieved the necessary points for the certificate, a showcase of my giveback piece, as well as my reflective essay. In it I hope that I can be designated as a "Globally Competent" graduate of Thompson Rivers University (TRU); however, this does not mean I've reached the destination of competence. Being globally competent means that I will continue to learn and investigate wherever I go, and use my new attitudes, knowledge, and skills towards my future work and life in a globalized world.
Hello,
About me
I am a fourth year Bachelor of Natural Resource Science Student, which pretty much goes hand in hand with a love for the outdoors. I love being outside, whether it's hiking, climbing, backpacking, canoeing, etc. A love for exploring the world around me has taken me to a few places in North and South America, and has given me experiences that have changed my life. Travelling and learning in a different country has given me an appreciation for life that I don't think I'd have now if I'd never left Canada to explore. Being in a different setting and learning in different countires with barriers in communication, technology, and culture have given me strong interpersonal skills and an adaptability that I believe will help me work in difficult situations in the future.
If you have any questions, or would like to talk to me about anything on this website, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
