In our single class for global competency, we discussed what we thought it meant to be a globally competent citizen, as well as the importance of being "globally competent". I agreed with most of the answers, but one that stuck with me was that "you don't need to travel outside of your hometown to be globally competent." To add, I think that to investigate world issues, differences in culture, and current events can take place at home, and as long as you seek to understand, act, and continually learn about them, you may be considered as globally competent.
Reflection
Below is a link to my reflective essay. In it, I hope to explain my shift in thinking over the past few years regarding global competency. Although restricted to 700 words, I hope it encompasses what I have learned, why it's important, and how I will use my learning in the future.
